David A. Scott MB, BS, PhD, FANZCA, FFPMANZCA, FAMM, FCAI
Professor David A Scott is President of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. He is a Professor at the University of Melbourne, School of Medicine and Director of Anaesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, Australia. He has a PhD in the neuropharmacology of neuropathic pain.
His College interests include professionalism, research support, assessment and education, and international engagement.
His clinical interests focus on cardiac and vascular anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia and acute pain management.
Over the last decade, his research has focussed on safety and outcomes – including blood management, opioids and pain, and the cognitive effects of anaesthesia and surgery – particularly delirium and dementia. He has also been a co-editor of the Acute Pain Management: Scientific Evidence book for its last three editions.
