The One Health approach recognizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, emphasizing a holistic strategy to address health challenges.

Submit your research for the 59th Annual Medical Symposium
The Medical Society of Papua New Guinea will be hosting its 59th Annual Medical Symposium in Port Moresby, NCD, from August 31st to September 5th, 2025. The theme for this year is “One Health”.
The Medical Society invites All Health Workers, Doctors, Medical Researchers, Church Health Workers, Private Health Care Providers, NGOs, Academics and any interested members of the public to submit papers relevant to the theme through email: abstracts@mspng.org.pg
All abstracts (including authors & key words) are to be no more than 300 words (in MS Word).
The scientific committee will review abstracts and you will be notified whether your abstract has been accepted or not after the deadline for submissions has closed.
The closing date for Abstract submission is 16:00 hours, 08th August, 2025.

Dr. Liu Zhenqiu is the Deputy Team Leader of the 11th & 12th China Medical Team to Papua New Guinea. He is a Consultant Neonatologist, Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. Dr. Liu Zhenqiu is the Deputy Head of the Perinatal and Neonatology Group of the Pediatrician Alliance of the Chongqing Maternal and Child Health Society. He is a guest speaker at the 56th Annual Medical Symposium.

Dr. Xian Peng is a Consultant Urologist from the 12th China Medical Team to Papua New Guinea. Dr. Xian Peng is an Associate Professor and Postgraduate Supervisor of Chongqing University, China. He has performed more than 1500 laparoscopic/robotic surgeries. He has won the Annual Best Surgical Video Winner Award of China Anti-Cancer Association. He is a member of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and Tumor Artificial Intelligence Special Committee and Vice-chairman of the Youth Committee of the Urology Management of Chongqing Hospital Association.

Professor William Pomat is a biomedical researcher with training in immunology, to bacterial causes of pneumonia in children. Professor Pomat is the current Director of the PNG Institute of Medical Research, the country’s leading academic research institute and an internationally recognized centre of excellence. His primary research interests are in understanding protective immunity to infectious diseases among children.
